Matthys Gratien, born February 15, 1999, in Bondy, France, is a professional rugby union player competing as a winger. Standing 1.72m and weighing 86kg, he is a JIFF player (formed in France) who began his rugby career at La Roche-sur-Yon at age 13 before joining the academy of RC Vannes in 2016. He made his professional Pro D2 debut in 2019 against Stade Aurillacois. After establishing himself as a regular in the RC Vannes squad, Gratien faced a significant setback when a multiple facial fracture kept him off the pitch for three months, before he fought his way back into the team. In the summer of 2023, he moved to Soyaux Angoulême XV (SA XV Charente), where he made an immediate impact, scoring a brace on his debut against Béziers and going on to play 18 matches with 17 starts in his first season at the club. He continues to compete in Pro D2, France's second-tier professional rugby championship, known for his pace and finishing ability on the wing. Gratien represents the new generation of homegrown French talent progressing through the country's structured club academy system into professional rugby.
