Nejra Sipović, born October 22, 2003, in Sarajevo, is one of the most exciting young karate talents to emerge from Bosnia and Herzegovina — and increasingly a name that echoes across the global WKF circuit. Competing in the Female Kumite -55kg category, she combines sharp tactical intelligence with explosive speed and a fearless fighting style that has set her apart from the early stages of her career. Nejra began her competitive journey through the junior and cadet ranks, earning her place on the BiH national team through a string of dominant domestic performances. She trains and competes under the banner of Sarajevo Karate Club Ippon, one of the country's most respected clubs. Her breakout moment on the international stage came in February 2023, when she claimed gold at the 50th European Championship for Cadets, Juniors and U21 in Larnaca, Cyprus — defeating opponents from Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Greece, Spain and Germany without losing a single bout. The title was a statement that she was ready for the senior elite level. She also won gold at the Balkan Karate Championship in Tirana, further cementing her status as the top-ranked female karatekas in the region. Her rise culminated in a landmark achievement in March 2026, when she won her first-ever Karate One Premier League title in Rome, Italy — defeating home favourite Viola Lallo in the final with a clean 3-0 scoreline. It was her first time reaching a Premier League final, and she went all the way.nnNejra is also pursuing an academic career, studying Political Science and International Relations at the University of Sarajevo (SSST), embodying the dual identity of elite athlete and engaged intellectual. Her sister Emina Sipović also competes at the international level in the -61kg category.
