Hugo Wigglesworth is a professional Big Air kitesurfer from Auckland, New Zealand, and one of the most exciting athletes in the history of the sport. Born and raised in New Zealand by kitesurfing parents Luke and Suzie, he was introduced to the water before he could walk, developing an instinctive connection with wind and kite from the very start. A natural talent across multiple disciplines, Hugo competes in Big Air, hydrofoil racing, and winging, while also pursuing skateboarding and foil surfing off the water. At just 19 years old, he has already rewritten the record books. On December 6, 2025, at Kite Beach in Cape Town, South Africa, Hugo became the first kitesurfer in history to break the 40-meter ceiling, launching 40.0 meters into the air with 13 seconds of hang time, verified by WOO Sports. This came just months after setting a previous WOO World Record of 36.7 meters at Plimmerton Beach, New Zealand, in September 2024. Hugo also holds the title of 2025 Hydrofoil Big Air World Champion, claimed during his very first season on the GKA Kite World Tour. Sponsored by FLYSURFER, WOO Sports, and Kitemana, he travels the globe competing in Cape Town, Tarifa, Cape Verde, and the United Arab Emirates, always chasing the wind and pushing the limits of what is possible in big air kitesurfing.
